Fastest Coasters
Hello there guys, welcome back to my coaster channel and today I will be covering the top 10 fastest coasters in the United States. This list is based on speed and speed only as there are a lot of other attributes that make a coaster good. So lets get right into the list.
10. Xcelerator
7. Titan
Titan is a steel hypercoaster manufactured by Giovanola. It is located in Six Flags Over Texas. This coaster, in my opinion is underrated. Many enthusiasts say that this is not smooth enough for a steel hyper and that there is a lot of Spine banging as the seats are only half as tall as an average person. This ride also just has a lap bar that is commonly found in wooden coasters. Titan makes up for its lack of comfort and the feeling of safety by its speed and sharp turns. This coaster can reach up to 85 mph and it has a 255 ft drop. This drop is intimidating. This drop is so intense that a dew people black out. Right after that first drop, you go through a tunnel and here is where you will experience all the G forces acting upon you because right after the tunnel, you ares sent flying up an airtime hill. This ride is said to have good airtime. Overall, this ride is pretty good but it is not one of my favorites though. There are a lot of other really good B&M steel hypercoasters that actually have comfortable seating and great lap bars. Titan is a good ride to experience if you ever visit Texas.
6. Intimidator 305
The Intimidator 305 is an Intamin Giga Coaster. It is often considered as one of the best roller coasters in the planet. Intimidator is a monster. It is 305 ft tall and it has a 300 ft drop. It can reach up to 90 mph but it lacks airtime. It has a lot of sharp and intense turns and it could easily black out any rider. This is a really good coaster and it is considered to be very smooth and it is said to be a fun ride. This giant is located in Kings dominion over at Doswell, Virginia.
5. Millennium Force
Millennium Force is a steel giga coaster manufactured by Intamin. It is located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. This coaster is 310 ft tall and has a 300 ft drop. After you reach the top of the lift hill, you are sent flying down at speeds of 93 mph with only a tiny lap bar holding you in place. The chain lift hill, the system that gets roller coasters to get to the top of the hill before they descend and Millennium force's lift hill, unlike many other coasters moves the train faster. This is really intense and contains a lot of sharp overbank turns, the turns that you can see towards the right on this picture. This beast has a ton of airtime hills. This ride is one of my favorites and this widely regarded as one of the best coasters in the world. If you ever get to visit Cedar Point, don't forget to pay a visit Millennium Force.
4. Fury 325
Fury 325 is by far the best B&M steel roller coaster ever made. This is simply outstanding. It is the tallest and the fastest giga coaster on the planet. It is located in Carowinds amusement park at Charlotte, North Carolina. This is again, one of the best roller coaster's in the world. This roller coaster has a 300 ft drop and it is 325 ft tall. It is regarded to be vary smooth and it is really hard to miss out as it is located right on the entrance of the park. This is, with no doubt the best coaster at Carwoinds and this is a must ride attraction. This intense roller coaster is capable of reaching 95 mph. This is a must ride attraction and it is one of my favorite coasters too.
3. Superman Escape From Krypton
Superman Escape from Krypton was manufactured by Intamin and it is located at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. This coaster is really unique. It is a reverse free fall coaster, it basically starts with a launch and this launch is pulled off by the Linear Synchronous Motor system (LSM). If you guys notice the huge grey box like piece underneath the railing, it is the LSM. The LSM allows the roller coaster to reach speeds of 100 mph, that is very impressive. The trains have two sections of seats. The first half facing towards the right and the second half of it facing the left. The people sitting facing the right direction usually get the less intense part of the ride and once the ride is launched, these people will not feel the air as they are facing backwards. Once the train goes up the hill and drops them, they will get a lot of airtime. The people who are facing the left get the most out of the ride. Once the ride is launched, They go face first into the wind and once the train climbs the hill, they get the airtime and once it drops, they will most likely feel as if falling down a cliff at a 100 mph. This ride is great despite it being short. As this ride is short, many people may not like but if the wait is not too long then you can give it a shot.
2. Top Thrill Dragster
Coming in at second place is Top Thrill Dragster. It is one of the two Stratacoasters in the world. Stratacoaster is the classification of roller coasters that have a great height and they feature a corkscrew during the drop. Top Thrill Dragster is also the second tallest roller coaster in the world. Itis located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. It was manufactured by Intamin and it stands out among the other coasters as it is 420 ft tall. It has a 400 ft, bone crushing drop. It is a must ride attraction due to its unique layout and its reputation. Top Thrill dragster can reach up to 120 ft drop in a mere 4 seconds. This coaster uses a hydraulic launch mechanism to achieve its top speeds. This is a fun ride and it is said to be very smooth and of course it feels like you are driving a race car in the sky.
1. King Da Ka
You guys probably guessed it, coming in at number 1 is King Da Ka, a steel accelerator coaster. This is the other stratacoaster that I mentioned before. King Da Ka is referred to as the giant. It is the tallest and the second fastest roller coaster in the world. It was manufactured by Intamin and it is located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. This giant of a coaster can reach up to 128 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It has an unbelievable height of 456 ft and it has a 418 ft drop. It reaches its top speeds using a hydraulic launch system. Riders need to be really brave to ride King Da Ka and even the really brave ones sometimes hesitate to go on it. As for me I did ride it but I just rode it once. That first drop is insane and it feels like your nosediving into concrete. This is another must ride roller coaster and it is one of the park's major attractions.
And that is it folks, I will be making more blogs about coasters and I even might try to make blogs about other rides too. Thank you for reading my blog and I do really appreciate it and just like always, Coaster Fun is out.
10. Xcelerator
This accelerator coaster is located in Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, California. This was the coaster manufacturer Intamin's first hydraulic launch coaster as it opened in June 22, 2002. It is indeed a pretty old coaster as it served up to more than a decade. This beast can reach up to 82 mph. in a mere 2.3 seconds. Hydraulic launch system is basically a motor powered engine generator that is located under the first sections of the roller coaster track. Once the coaster's wheels are locked onto the box, it pushes the coaster and it sends it flying upward. This is a pretty intense ride and it does take you through a quite head banger turns and the people who have ridden this have complained about the roughness of this coaster. But still Intamin accelerator's are one of my favorite roller coaster models.
9. Goliath
This Giovanola steel hypercoaster is the second fastest coaster in Six Flags Magic Mountain over at Valencia, California. This is standard lift hill drop steel coaster. It debuted in February 11, 2000 and still remains as one of the most popular attractions at magic mountain. It has giant drop that is 255 ft. This coaster sends you down a giant drop, standard for any steel coaster and it makes you soar across the boundaries of the park where you will experience many good views of the other rides and of the park itself. This coaster is capable of reaching speeds of 85 mph. This is a pretty long ride and it has 4,500 ft long track. This is a must ride attraction if you were ever to visit Magic Mountain.
This coaster is manufactured by Arrow Dynamics and it is a steel hypercoaster. It is located in Kennywood over at West Mifflin, Pensylvania and it opened in May 10, 1991 and it is indeed really old and it is considered a first gen coaster. This coaster is another standard lift hill coaster. It has a decent first drop of 228 ft and it has quite a few sharp turns but it is a pretty smooth coaster overall. In terms of speed, it can reach up to 85 mph, same as Goliath. Well what makes me put it at number 8 and Goliath at number 9. Well, Phantom's revenge has a steeper drop and as far as as science goes, the greater the steepness of the drop, the more momentum the object has. So decided to put it at number 8.
